The COVID-19 pandemic, as well as other contemporary global challenges, has
reawakened an interest in self-sufficiency. Growing food locally and sustainably has
been coupled with a desire to improve life skills, knowledge, and awareness about the
importance of nutrition, local ecosystems, the societal benefits of community food
growing as well as wider issues of food equality and sovereignty, and the opportunities
that urban agriculture can have in enhancing both physical and mental health and
wellbeing.
Our mission
Urban Cultivate is a holistic consultancy service. Our team is transforming how
vacant urban spaces are designated and converted into local, circular, self-
sustaining places for food growing activities. We use state-of-the-art approaches
to map, analyse, and optimize urban spaces to inform land planning decisions
and create healthy, sustainable, and resilient food growing communities.
