AGRITECTURE

Agritecture refers to the relationship between food, or agriculture, and architecture. It has been described as “the art, science and business of integrating agriculture into cities”. Agritecture considers the social, economical and environmental aspects of our daily habits with the aim to create sustainable and regenerative growing cultures.

Urban Cultivate presents a unique innovative methodology for urban growing. The methodology identifies fragmented and undesignated spaces and groups them to form clusters. Each cluster comprises of five spaces.Though each is separated by varying distances, they are interconnected to a cluster by designated growing functions, as follows:

  1. Food recycling and composting

  2. Germination

  3. Growing on the surface (in the ground)

  4. Growing on the fabric (walls, rooftops, and organic architectural solutions)

  5. Food exchange (food markets, local cafe/restaurants/educational centres)
